Netflix announces fourth and final season of The Umbrella Academy
The forthcoming season of The Umbrella Academy will be its last. On 25 August, Netflix announced that the sci-fi slash fantasy drama will return for a fourth and final round with showrunner Steve Blackman teasing an “amazing” concluding chapter. “I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” he said in a statement. “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.” Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H.
Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore will reprise their roles, while additional casting will be announced at a later date. Netflix are yet to confirm an episode count for season four.
According to Variety, however, multiple sources have claimed that it will be shortener than its predecessors, which all ran for 10 episodes.
Based on the Dark Horse Comics created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the series follows a dysfunctional family of superpowered beings who reunite after their father’s mysterious death.
