Rep. Matt Gaetz‘s future continues to look bleaker, according to a former federal prosecutor.Last month, a federal judge once again agreed to postpone sentencing for Gaetz’s former wingman, Joel Greenberg, after he pleaded guilty to six federal charges last year, including child sex trafficking, aggravated identity theft, wire fraud, and stalking. The judge agreed to keep an upcoming mid-May status report sealed after prosecutors argued it would protect sensitive information about ongoing investigations.

The assumption is that Greenberg will continue helping investigators who are looking into whether Gaetz paid to have sex with a high school student.

In exchange, Greenberg will receive a more lenient sentence.Joyce Vance, who served as a United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 to 2017, certainly thinks this could spell big trouble for the antigay lawmaker.“This can mean other things, but most often, it means work with a cooperating witness is proceeding & it is productive,” she commented on Tuesday, adding, “Not good for Gaetz.”This can mean other things, but most often, it means work with a cooperating witness is proceeding & it is productive.
