Mayor Kimberley Driscoll Announces The Appointment of Julio Mota, Constituent Services Director & Latino Affairs Coordinator & LGBT Liaison, to Help Provide Constituent Support and Continue Engagement Work with Salem’s Latino Residents, OthersSALEM, Mass.—Mayor Kim Driscoll has announced that Julio Mota has been hired to serve as the new Constituent Services Director & Latino Affairs Coordinator & LGBT Liaison for the Mayor’s Office.

In the role, Mota will aid residents navigating City services, programs, and departments, and will particularly focus on strengthening connections with Latino and Latina residents.Mota, a Salem State alumnus, comes to the position from the City Clerk’s Office and the Salem Housing Authority.

He brings years of experience helping to organize Salem’s municipal elections, assisting residents with navigating the application process for public housing, and supporting the City’s vital records office operations.In addition to the daily work of helping residents with accessing City services and programs, Mota will develop and launch the City’s first community engagement academy, continue Salem’s application process through the Welcoming Cities certification, and work in collaboration with the new Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and community partners to further the implementation of recommendations from the recent Race Equity Task Force report.Mayor Driscoll spoke highly of Mota and the position’s importance for the city.“I’m pleased to welcome Julio to our team,” said Mayor Driscoll. “When we established the position of Latino Affairs Coordinator several years ago it was with the goal of becoming more intentional in our community engagement efforts for all residents of Salem.
