Heartstopper. In the series, his friendship with Charlie Spring grows into a romantic connection in the first season of the charming queer series. This breakout role has led fans online to speculate about the young actor’s actual sexuality on social media, which Connor gently shut down with a post. “Twitter is so funny man,” he wrote. “Apparently some people on here know my sexuality better than I do.”Connor elaborated further on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, speaking about why he has no plans to label his sexuality publically and why the pressure of assumptions about it can be harmful.Referencing his previous tweet shutting down the speculation, he noted that with the age of the cast being “all so young,” assuming “our sexualities” could place undue pressure to come out before they were ready to do so.“I mean, for me, I feel like I’m perfectly confident and comfortable with my sexuality,” he continued. “I’m not too big on labels and things like that.

I’m not massive about that, and I don’t feel like I need to label myself, especially publicly.”Calling out the people on Twitter, he explained, was about pointing out how strange it was that, in 2022, people were still making assumptions about others’ identities. “It feels a bit strange to make assumptions about a person’s sexuality just based on hearing their voice or seeing their appearance,” Connor said. “I feel like that’s a very interesting, slightly problematic sort of assumption to make.”While Connor’s in no rush to say anything definitive about his sexuality, one thing audiences can be assured of is that they haven’t seen the last of Nick Nelson.
