Colton Underwood Told Michael Sam He Wished They Had Come Out Together

The Bachelor alum Colton Underwood recently revealed he's gay, one of the first people he contacted was Michael Sam. The pair shared much in common.
Both played defensive end in college, both were part of the 2014 NFL draft class, and both were signed to NFL teams straight out of college.
The two men were also both gay. Where they differed, though, was that while Sam became the first out active NFL player in the history of the league, Underwood stayed in the closet.
And that difference was the reason Underwood reached out to Sam.“I had the opportunity in 2014 when I entered the draft. Michael Sam came out,” Underwood told Variety, choking up momentarily at the thought.
